Enzo Fernandez is increasingly coming into focus as a Real Madrid signing. He has been on their radar as a possible midfield upgrade since before the window started, but with the club's lack of interest in Rodri, he has been the best possible player Real have on their radar as a new No. 6.

Jose Mourinho is a big fan of his, too, and he is now the favorite to be their main target to upgrade the midfield and provide them with a new controlling player who can defend at an elite level. Real Madrid and Mourinho have to be looking at Aureilen Tchouameni's spot in the starting lineup with disappointment, given his lack of growth, and the 2026 World Cup performances have only highlighted a clear gulf of class between the two.

The thing is, Enzo is not going to be cheap. Chelsea paid 121 million euros to sign him from Benfica three years ago after he was already a standout World Cup winner, and they want to make a profit off that, since Enzo has not hurt his reputation by any means despite the Blues failing to get the most out of him in their system with a variety of bad coaching hires.

Real Madrid are all in on Enzo

So in order to sign Enzo, Diario AS reports, via the Madrid Zone, that Real Madrid would like to make a big midfield sale to make the finances work out. The two players headlined are Aureilen Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga, who continue to generate interest from the Premier League.

Chelsea themselves may be interested, but Manchester United and Liverpool are the two main teams who have been linked to Tchouameni and Camavinga over the years. Real Madrid had actually primarily between out Liverpool to Tchou's signature back in 2022 - the same summer they sold Casemiro to Man United.

Real Madrid could reasonably get close to the 80 million euros they signed Tchouameni for and a little bit less than that for Camavinga. At worst, Tchouameni and Camavinga should go for a combined 120 million euros, which may only be slightly less than what Chelsea will be able to sell Enzo Fernandez for.

If Real Madrid are able to sell both Camavinga and Tchouameni, they could also sign another midfielder to go with Enzo, perhaps replacing Tchou with the Argentina international and then signing Ayyoub Bouaddi as the new prospect to replace Camavinga.

it is more likely, though, that Real Madrid only sell one, and though Cama has been mentioned in more transfer rumors, Tchouameni is the more likely sale since he has a worse profile than Enzo as a No. 6 and hurt his reputation with the locker room brawl.
