After quite a long time, Real Madrid finally have more than one player they can rely on off the bench. Gone are the days where the squad would look depleted and without anyone huge to bring on and cause chaos to win the game for the team.
Now, Real Madrid have slowly built a formidable bench unit that could decide games on their own. There are three brilliant players on the bench at the moment, and they will undoubtedly be important for every single game this season. This list will not include players who have been on the bench but will eventually be starters, like Yan Diomande.
I did not want a cop out answer in my piece, which is why Diomande will be considered a future starter rather than a current bench player. It also won't include players who could potentially be starters, like Arda Guler, who has started two of Real Madrid's three games.
Carlos Espi
The most important Real Madrid player on the bench would be Espi. He may not be the best player on this list, but he has something no one else in the entire squad can provide, which is his aerial ability and box presence. In games where they would need a huge striker to come in and score from crosses, Espi would be the first player to come off the bench.
It has already happened - the win over Espanyol had Espi's goal written all over it, and in the first game itself, showed exactly why the Spanish striker was brought in by the club. He will be crucial to Real Madrid's success.
Brahim Diaz
Brahim Diaz works tirelessly for Real Madrid each time he plays. If he gets a goal contribution, that is obviously brilliant and exactly what the team needs from him, but his energy, ball retention and tirelessness is what makes him so important.
When he starts or comes off the bench, his work rate is so high that it almost feels like he is doing it for two players instead of just himself. It is brilliant to watch, and is something that Real Madrid fans don't appreciate enough about him. He can play out wide, centrally, behind the striker, and work incredibly hard on both ends of the pitch like no one else.
Endrick
It feels weird to include a player who has not played for Real Madrid so far this season - and also weird to include three offensive-minded players. But Brahim provides so much to this team that it suits his profile as a substitute more than getting him chained to one specific position.
Endrick, on the other hand, is the same, but for purely offensive reasons. If he is brought on, there will be chaos. Real Madrid fans know what he can provide to the team on a regular basis, and in some game states where things are too comfortable for the opposition, Endrick would be an incredible option to bring in to cause some havoc inside the box.
There are other players like Denzel Dumfries, Thiago Pitarch that could have made their case, but Endrick would cause so much trouble to opponents in and around their box, that it would have been foolish not to include him.
