Many assumed that Real Madrid would be highly aggressive in the pursuit of star midfielders this summer transfer window, but after signing veteran free agent Bernardo Silva from Manchester City at the request of Jose Mourinho to land his personal favorite scrapper in the middle of the park, the trail has gone very cold for Real.

They seemed to be highly interested in the trio of Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez, Morocco breakout star Ayyoub Bouaddi, and West Ham United's young Mateus Fernandes (who will now be playing for Tottenham Hotspur after inking an 85 million pound transfer) and before that Sandro Tonali (now also heading to Tottenham), Alexis Mac Allister, and Rodri were three big Premier League names linked.

But Real Madrid very publicly pulled out of the battle for Enzo, who is an early favorite of Chelsea's new coach Xabi Alonso, and have shown zero interest in Rodri or Bouaddi as of late with Fernandes and Tonali signing elsewhere in England.

Although some Madridistas are wondering if Real Madrid could go back in for a midfielder despite the new contract for Aurelien Tchouameni and the resistance from compatriot Eduardo Camavinga to leave despite rampant rumors, it appears Real are going to make no moves in the middle of the park for Jose Mourinho besides the flier on Bernardo Silva.

The Athletic's Guillermo Rai reports that Real Madrid have relayed that they do not see any need to sign a new center midfielder this summer transfer window. Los Blancos are reportedly happy with what they have at the position and, as with the attack, believe the priority for the club this offseason is for Jose Mourinho to maximize what they already have.

The message, then, to the key star trio in the midfield from Mourinho and Florentino Perez is a powerful one. Real Madrid are telling Jude Bellingham, Fede Valverde, and Aurelien Tchouameni that they are the strength of this team and more than good enough to be at Madrid; they are trusted.

Fede had a difficult World Cup, but Tchouameni was a key player for France and Jude has been the player of the tournament. All of them have won at least one Champions League title for Real Madrid, and they are better than any of the players Real could feasibly sign this summer, especially with Xabi Alonso and Chelsea requesting 150 million euros for Enzo Fernandez. Real Madrid trust this star trio, now it is time for them to work together and repay that trust instead of fighting.
