When it comes to new signings, this is one of the most important transfer windows in the recent history of Real Madrid. The squad is in desperate need of reinforcements in a number of areas on the pitch and the right signings have to be made or else the club will be set back further than they already are. One of the most talked about signings is the return of Nico Paz. The club believes now is the right time for the midfielder to return from his time at Como but they have to make that decision fast, as the clock is ticking and it is ticking fast.

As being reported by MadridXtra on X, Nico Paz's buy-back clause is now active and Real Madrid only have two weeks to trigger it or he will remain at Como for next season. The clause is worth around €8 million and whether or not the club brings him back or not could be one of the biggest decisions they make this summer and could define how next season turns out.

Real Madrid are on the clock to decide what to do with Nico Paz

Nico Paz has become quite the sensation at Como. Having initially joined on loan that then became permanent, the 21-year-old has developed into one of the top youngsters in the world in just a few short years. His first season at Como was a solid season, but this season was incredible, Paz bagged 14 goals and seven assists across 40 matches in all competitions and was the centerpiece behind Como's fourth place finish in Serie A, guiding them to the Champions League for the first time in the clubs history, and he took home a well deserved award for Serie A midfielder of the season.

His progress hasn't gone unnoticed by Real Madrid and after two successful seasons away from the Bernabeu, the club believes now is the right time for Paz to return to the club and play his part in the next generation of Los Blancos. As mentioned earlier the club now has two weeks to make their final decision to pay their €8 million buy-back clause but with everything going on at the club right now with the presidential elections, and no announcement on the new manager, they could run out of time to bring Paz back.

There is also one more issue complicating the deal, Paz himself. The Argentine reportedly wants to stay at Como for one more season to guide them in the Champions League next season, which makes sense given all the work he did to get them there he wants to reap the rewards of all his hard work.

At the end of the day the decision will be down to the new manager, which all signs point to it being Jose Mourinho and it's one of the most important decisions of Real Madrid's summer. For Paz staying at Como may be the right call as he is a regular starter there and should he return to the Bernabeu he may unfortunately fall down the pecking order given all the midfielders already in the squad despite all the progress he's made over the last two years.
