The narrative around Mbappe is growing in stature - a narrative that he is a player who only focuses on himself to a pathological point where he cannot possibly change the nature of his own destructive ways. Mbappe is earning a reputation among the Madridistas as a player who will post extraoardinary numbers and get his statistics, but, beyond that, he will hamstring the team to the point where they cannot possibly win with him.
Whether it is a vacation in Italy that normally would not even be noticed if Real Madrid were winning or otherwise competent or accusations of only focusing on the French national team, every single decision Mbappe makes or every little thing he does will be construed in the most malignant way possible and blown out of proportion.
To the onlookers not familiar with what the Real Madrid fans are thinking, it will only generate even more sympathy for Mbappe, which will then lead to even more backlash from within a fan base that is now growing frustrated with the club's downward direction, with Mbappe further being highlighted as the demarcation point when it all went south for Real Madrid.
