The only silver lining for Real Madrid fans after humiliation to Arsenal

What transpired at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium was horrific to behold. I've written several articles about what went wrong and why it went wrong.

For starters, there was no clear gameplan to begin with. The players appeared to be out of ideas, and no progress was imposed during the course of 90 minutes. With the same cross-and-believe strategy, Real Madrid flew out of the quarterfinals.

And this was evident from the minute the starting XI was revealed. The decision to field David Alaba and Lucas Vazquez, two exceedingly poor and liability-like fullbacks, was the final straw for me, convincing me that there would be no comeback even before the game began.

Real Madrid suffered several setbacks as a result of the humiliation, and I no longer want to consider them. Overall, it was a poor Champions League season, and I'm relieved that it's now done.

But there is one silver lining that might emerge from the humiliation: Carlo Ancelotti may eventually leave Real Madrid.

The Italian's job is currently under serious threat, and he will almost probably step down. This implies that Real Madrid will finally be free of Ancelotti's foolish methods, which have reduced this squad of superstars to mediocrity.

Let's face it. Ancelotti's second time at Real Madrid was disastrous, and his near-sacking should have occurred much sooner. Without the help of senior players who could always hide his flaws, his outmoded techniques were visibly destroyed by every club this season.

The manager has failed to persuade in every major game this season. Two humiliating El Clasico defeats should have been the last nail in Ancelotti's coffin, but I suppose better late than never.

The Champions League exit was devastating, but Carlo Ancelotti may be gone for forever. And nothing makes me happier than this.
