This season has been a disaster for Real Madrid, not just on the pitch, but especially off the pitch within the dressing room and the hierarchy. This season more than ever we have seen players throwing their weight around, having a major impact on the team. The players and the hierarchy seem more disconnected than ever before and it has had a visible impact on how the season has played out, and the latest disconnect could have a major impact on how next season plays out, in what is one of the most important seasons in recent years for Real Madrid.

As being reported by Guillermo Rai of The Athletic, Florentino Perez and other key figures of Real Madrid's hierarchy already had their doubts about Alvaro Arbeloa's ability when they first hired him and those doubts have only intensified. However on the other side of the coin, new reports suggest Arbeloa has the support of key figures in the dressing room who want the manager to stay next season.

It's the players vs the hierarchy at Real Madrid over Arbeloa's future

This divide pretty much sums up the state of the club, chaos. If the board, players, and management can't all agree and coexist, the results will be bad and that's exactly what we're seeing at the Bernabeu. Look at Bayern Munich for example, every area of the club works in harmony together and they're currently the best team in the world because they all departments work together and that is where Real Madrid need to get back to.

Understandably so based on the results we've seen the hierarchy has their doubts about Arbeloa staying next season but the players who have weight in the dressing room disagree. Vinicius Jr is Arbeloa's biggest supporter, with other players like Fede Valverde, Antonio Rüdiger, Thibaut Courtois, Tchouameni, Bellingham and Arda Güler also backing the manager to stay. The report doesn't mention Kylian Mbappe's stance but we can all tell where the Frenchman stands regarding Arbeloa's future.

The manager also reportedly has a long-standing disconnect with a core group of the Spanish players at the club such as Dani Carvajal, Raul Asencio, and Dani Ceballos. So not only is there a divide between the board and the players, there's also a divide within the dressing room between the players. Now understanding all of this, it's no wonder Real Madrid are in the state they're currently in and it doesn't look like it's going to get better any time soon.

It's not an overstatement to say that next season is one of the most important seasons in recent years for Real Madrid. From a dominant 23/24 season, to back-to-back trophyless seasons in 24/25 and 25/26, Real Madrid need to get all areas of the club on the same page and if they don't we could see Real Madrid become the next AC Milan, a former giant that has fallen into an unrecognizable state.
