It wouldn't be your normal Real Madrid season if Vinicius Jr wasn't one of the major talking points every week. The Brazilian hasn't had the best start to the season by any means and whether it has been to his poor form on the pitch or other issues off the field, the Real Madrid star hasn't looked himself, which is causing some at the club to worry.
As being reported by MadridXtra on X, some Real Madrid locker room heavyweights and even some of the Real Madrid hierarchy are worried about Vinicius Jr early in this season, with a clear message being said about keeping him happy. Real put a strong focus on making Vini happy last season and it wound up winning the club nothing, and if they put too much focus on one player once again, it could prove costly for them this season.
What on earth does it take to make Vinicius Jr happy?
One of Xabi Alonso's quotes that was revealed following his sacking was: "I didn't know I came to manage a daycare."
Real Madrid's constant infatuation with making just Vinicius Jr happy is starting to become a worrying constant at the Bernabeu. The club has been bending the knee and doing everything to make the Brazilian happy; however, it seems that no matter what they do, it will never be enough.
The club sacked Xabi Alonso cause he wasn't happy under him, brought in Alvaro Arbeloa, who gave him more freedom and prominence in the team, then brought in Jose Mourinho who is trying to make him a centrepiece of his project, and, on top of all that, gave him a new massive contract until 2032, and he still isn't happy. What else is it going to take?
Based on his form so far this season, the Brazilian doesn't deserve all the preferential treatment he's getting, with just one goal and one assist through six games, and he hasn't looked like the Vinicius of years past that we've seen.
He looks slow, out of shape, lacking in passion and drive and just overall uninterested, so why exactly is the club going through all this trouble to make him happy when it seems like no matter what they give him, he'll never be happy?
Why do great teams win things? Because they play as a whole team together and not giving just one player everything. If Real Madrid is really serious about getting back to winning ways following back-to-back trophyless seasons, they need to stop putting so much priority on making just Vini happy as that will no doubt prove to be a detriment to the whole team.
It's not worth sacrificing everything just to make one player happy especially after he's shown that no matter what Real Madrid does, it will never be enough.
