Enzo Fernandez is a divisive player in world football, especially among Chelsea fans. The starting defensive midfielder is very publicly angling for a Real Madrid transfer and seems to be fed up with his time at Stamford Bridge, and there are many fans who feel that the team would be better in possesion without him, even as his goals and other traits are of benefit.

Everyone dreams of Real Madrid, even players like Rodri who have achieved a lot at a European rival, and Enzo is no different. His pushes for a transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu are becoming more forceful and public, and every day, there is a new transfer report in the Spanish press discussing a potential move for the Argentinian World Cup hero.

According to the latest information from Radio MARCA, via Madrid Xtra, Real Madrid do want to sign Enzo Fernandez, but, jibing with previous reporting, they only want him at their financial conditions. With Enzo under contract until 2032, Chelsea are under no pressure to sell, and they have made it clear through the transfer grape vine that they want no less than 100 million euros, which is obviously more than Real are willing to spend.

Real Madrid are rooting against Chelsea

However, Radio MARCA reports that while Real Madrid will indeed not pay that full 100 million euros for the Chelsea star, they are hoping they can get him for less than that. Obviously, if Enzo pushes hard enough for a move, he can force Chelsea into having to accept less in order to smooth things over and get the drama done with. But Real Madrid are also hoping that if Chelsea do not have Champions League football to count on next season, that will reduce Enzo's price, too (and probably give the midfielder even more reason to leave).

Right now, Chelsea rank sixth in the Premier League and are six points behind the top four, where Aston Villa lie in fourth. Now, it is not easy to trust a team like Vila, nor are Liverpool the most solid fifth placed team this season either. But as it stands right now, Chelsea are more out than in when it comes to Champions League qualification.

So if Chelsea do not make it to the Champions League and Enzo Fernandez keeps banging the drum publicly for a transfer to Real Madrid, a move for less than 100 million euros suddenly becomes plausible. Maybe Enzo to Real Madrid isn't completely impossible after all.
