Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior are unsurprisingly the main topic of conversation around Real Madrid, because even though Jose Mourinho is the new manager and the club have made huge defensive signings with designs on another big one for the midfield, the names on everyone's lips will always be the two big superstars forwards. And even if Florentino Perez can somehow bring in Mbappe's compatriot Michael Olise this summer, Vini and Kylian will still take center stage.
The main task Mourinho has and the reason why he was even hired in the first place is to get these two superstars to co-exist. Because Mbappe and Vinicius have been beyond sensational for their powerhouse countries this summer at the 2026 World Cup, clearly benefiting psychologically from that responsibility of being THE guy for their national teams.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is the true leader and captain of this squad in terms of how he is viewed by the fans and his teammates, and he always knows the right thing to say, delivering poignant thoughts and inconvenient truths for all.
Real Madrid just want to see them succeed
Courtois spoke about Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe, and it is safe to say that his main wish and goal for the superstar attacking duo is exactly how all the Madridistas feel about them heading into the 2026/27 season.
The Belgian national team star said of Vini and Kyky, via Madrid Xtra, “Mbappe and Vini Jr. are incredible players. I hope that under our new coach, we can integrate them well, play exciting football, and win titles, because I think we have a very good team. I hope we can continue to win more titles.”
That is all Real Madrid fans are hoping for, too. They all just want to see Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. getting along, enjoying their football, and winning titles. When Mbappe joined Madrid after their double in 2024, everyone had assumed the club would become truly unstoppable, yet they have won nothing since then - not even the Copa del Rey.
Jose Mourinho has to be able to capture the excitement of Real Madrid football again, and though he is viewed as a defensive manager, true Madridistas remember he set La Liga scoring records with his counterattacking football and had all of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain, Karim Benzema, Mesut Ozil, Angel Di Maria, and even Ricardo Kaka eating well at the table. Now, he has to do it for Vini and Mbappe in 2026/27.
