Thierry Henry has highlighted former Real Madrid player Eden Hazard as one of his favourite players to watch. This might come as a shock to Real Madrid fans.

Real Madrid have signed many great players in the past. In fact, as the biggest and best club in the world, the Spanish capital has always been an attractive destination for the greatest players.

However, it doesn't always mean that those players bring their A-game to Real Madrid. Indeed, the royal white jersey is a heavy jersey to wear, so it is not fit for every player.

Unfortunately, Eden Hazard learned this the hard way.

Nevertheless, French football legend Thierry Henry had nothing but nice things to say about Eden Hazard. Of course, the two worked together during Henry's time coaching the Belgium national team.

According to Football London, Thierry Henry spoke to Sky Sports and he was full of praise for Eden Hazard. He said that Hazard was one of those players he'd pay to watch.

In his own words, Henry said: "This guy was bailing you out of anywhere, in any situation, in any position. The amount of solo goals that he scored; left foot, right foot, anything, swivelling on people – it’s a different ball game for me. This is the type of guy that I’d pay to watch."

Before joining Real Madrid in 2019, Eden Hazard was one of the best wingers in the world. He is a Chelsea legend and regarded by many as one of the best to ever play in his position.

However, this did not translate to his time at Real Madrid. Instead, Eden Hazard made just 54 league appearances in his five year stint in the Spanish capital.

Thierry Henry commented on this fact and said that not playing football in the Spanish capital would have upset Eden Hazard, hence why he ultimately retired there.

Henry said: "Eden is a lover of the game…he doesn’t want any aggro, he doesn’t want any trouble, he just wants to go onto the field and play and then enjoy his family and enjoy his holiday. And then, ‘let me go on the field and play, if I’m not good enough bye, bye, I’m going to go’, and that’s what he did ."

Eden Hazard does not go down as a Real Madrid legend. In terms of talent, he might be one of the best ever signed by Real Madrid but ultimately, he did not showcase this.
