As Real Madrid prepare for a grueling two legs of the Champions League quarterfinals against long time European rivals Bayern Munich, they are also dealing with a backdrop of fierce rumors regarding their midfield in the summer transfer window.

Real are being linked with some big names from the Premier League like Enzo Fernandez, Rodri, Alexis Mac Allister, and Sandro Tonali. Meanwhile, one of their key role players, Eduardo Camavinga, is being shortlisted as a possibel transfer option by the Spanish media, particularly after a poor performance against Mallorca that has highlighted his lack of progress over the years.

But according to a report from Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany, despite the rampant transfer rumors, the Frenchman has "no intention" of leaving Real Madrid at this time. He wants to fight for his place in the team. Not only that, but Pletti states that Cama has shown no signs of "dissatisfaction" in the locker room, and there have also been "no talks" with other clubs.

Eduardo Camavinga is loyal

The 23 year old center midfielder had been linked to PSG, who were once interested in him at Rennes before he chose Real Madrid in 2021 ahead of the Champions League winning campaign, but that does not appear to be a track for him. But the Premier League clubs being linked to Camavinga still seemed to have a shot, especially with rumors increasing over the weekend after Mallorca.

It is heartwarming to see that Eduardo Camavinga wants to keep fighting for his spot and is not going to push a move out. If he is willing to stay on as a backup player and truly fight with any new signings and the up and comers like Nico Paz (likely on his way from Como in the coming seasons), Thiago Pitarch, and Manuel Angel, then he can still make something of himself.

As it stands, Camavinga is not a bad player. However, his mental lapses and inability to truly affect games or shore up the defense are problems that must be resolved. Cama is probably on his last legs, but Real Madrid will not cut them off yet. And they tend to keep young talents who want to stay and improve. The minute Camavinga becomes a Martin Odegaard and shows any petulance, moody behavior, or even the inkling of a desire to leave, the conversation may change. But the gregarious Cama is not this, and it is good to hear more positive reporting affirming his loyalty.
