It is no secret that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is smitten with French superstar Michael Olise as his next Galactico to add to Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe in the attack. Even before Perez denied that Olise would be the 150 million euro transfer he publicly wanted to bid for, reports circulated after Real's first leg loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinals that the Presi is a huge, huge fan of the Bayern Munich right winger.

Olise is one of the biggest Ballon d'Or candidates of the 2025/26 season, doing it all on the right flank as a scorer, progressor, one on one dribbler, and, especially, chance creator for the best raw attack and front three in world football.

Real Madrid want to break that trio up from their European Clasico rivals, but given how important Olise is to Bayern and how valuable he is in a vacuum on the transfer market, Bayern have expressed less than zero interest in selling the 24 year old to Los Blancos this summer.

Michael Olise is even harder to get now

As Sky Sports Germany transfer insider Florian Plettenberg points out, quoted by Madrid Xtra, “No club in the world would accept Florentino Perez’s first €150M offer for a key player. Every club now knows Perez has to deliver.”

That observation from Plettenberg is quite shrewd but does not play any favors for Real Madrid and Florentino Perez. In exciting his fan base in the build up to the elections against Enrique Riquelme, Perez tipped off his plans big time, because he has nowhere to go but up at the negotiating table for Michael Olise (or even Julian Alvarez, though Olise will cost more and is the bigger player Real and Perez want right now).

Bayern Munich and the whole world know Perez's plan, and now Die Roten can all the Real Madrid man's bluff. They can basically try to see if Perez was just blowing smoke and only promsing a bid of 150 million euros to excite the fans or if he is really, really serious about signing Olise at any reasonable price to make that kind of a Galactic splash to a team that disappointed again without any trophies in 2025/26.

Only Florentino knows what his own intentions are, but as Plettenberg points out, Perez lost some leverage by publicly revealing the amount he wants to give. Bayern are going to jack up the price for Olise even more and try to extract the full 200 million euros from Madrid - or more.
