England national team manager Thomas Tuchel seems to have it out for Real Madrid star right back Trent Alexander-Arnold to the point where even England legends like Wayne Rooney can't quite comprehend why Tuchel refuses to call TAA up to his squads or see how much of an asset the former Liverpool icon can be to his team at the World Cup this summer.

Trent was left off the preliminary squad for the World Cup, and even when Tuchel calls up everyone and their mother to the national team for international break action, he still leaves off Trent, almost as if to make one of those arrogant new age manager statements, "I can win without you. I don't need you, and my ideas are bigger than your quality."

Well, now the world will see just how crazy Tuchel is these days, because he may have no choice but to pick up the phone and dial up Trent for the World Cup squad this summer. That's because Arsenal star right back Ben White has suffered a season ending injury that places his World Cup status squarely in doubt.

Trent Alexander-Arnold gets his chance

As per The Athletic's David Ornstein and other journalists in the United Kingdom, Ben White suffered a suspected MCL injury during the 1-0 Arsenal win over West Ham United this past Premier League weekend. More tests need to be done to determine the extent of the damage, but White is going to be out for the rest of the league title race with Manchester City.

Now the attention for the England national team focuses on Trent Alexander-Arnold, whom many, including Rooney, feel should have been starting for the Three Lions and in the squad over White regardless.

Although Trent had a big of an adjustment period to life at Real Madrid, he very clearly proved to be the best starting option at right back, trouncing Dani Carvajal in what didn't turn out to be much of a fight for the position at all.

Trent has quietly gotten better and better, too. He is no longer a defensive liability despite playing around defensive midfielders and center backs who have been woeful with Eder Militao out, and his chance creation and quality on set pieces are beyond those of his teammates, minus Arda Guler (who has been injured now). If Trent can't make the squad at right back now that White is out, then Tuchel has truly lost the plot.
