Trent Alexander-Arnold started for England after a very long time on Tuesday night, and I think it is fair to say that he was amazing for them. Defensively, he was solid against the Czech Republic in their 2-0 win on the night, but offensively, that is where he did most damage.
Trent got an assist to Anthony Gordon's goal to open the scoring for his side, and there were so many great long passes from the Real Madrid fullback, which led to chances for his teammates.
It wasn't the greatest performance Trent has ever produced in an England shirt, but it was still a very good showing, which can only mean good news for him at Real Madrid. Every single game that Trent plays, regardless of whether it is for club or country, he produces the goods.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is simply better than Denzel Dumfries
In every game that he has played at right back this season, Trent has looked really good, and you can go as far as to say that he has contributed more in limited games and minutes than Denzel Dumfries has so far.
Dumfries has not been the best player for Real Madrid this season, and it is fair to say that Trent should never have been benched for the Dutch fullback. Even if that is the case, now it is time for Trent to finally take over because it is getting to a point where it does not make sense to bench the best passer that this team has.
It is not just the fact that he has been better than Dumfries this season. It is also that Trent is Real Madrid's biggest asset in terms of ball progression. He used to carry a team with no real tempo controller, and no chance creator in midfield to Premier League and Champions League victories. A lot of what Liverpool did in their prime years went through Trent Alexander-Arnold, and the sooner Jose Mourinho realises that, the better it is for Real Madrid.
The gap in talent between the two players, especially with the ball, is very obvious, and even though Dumfries is supposed to be the better defender of the two, it actually seems like Trent has been playing that role in a much better way as well.
It remains to be seen whether Trent can hold on to his starting spot next season, but if there is one thing he deserves, it is a good run of consistent minutes as the starting right back for Real Madrid.
