When Real Madrid president Florentino Perez locks in on a transfer target to the point of obsession, he tends to get the player he wants. But for this year, Perez will, like Kylian Mbappe for years, have to wait on Bayern Munich superstar Michael Olise.

Coming off a Ballon d'Or caliber year, Olise is Bayern's most prized possession - even above Joshua Kimmich, Jamal Musiala, and Harry Kane - and the Reds do not want to even entertain the idea of selling him. Although Olise told those close to him that he wants to leave for Real Madrid as soon as this summer, nothing formal came of those comments, and Olise is not the kind of person to force Bayern's hand. Nor do Real Madrid and their Presi want to run afoul of Bayern, who are something of a European powerhouse frenemy to them.

After signing Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, seen as the potential heir to Luis Diaz by some at Bayern earlier this summer, there is an understood and unsaid feeling that Real Madrid will be back in for the French superstar in the summer 2027 transfer window. They are just waiting for the green light from Bayern.

Florentino Perez is facing one of his toughest battles

But will a year's difference really do anything? Because it sounds like, no matter what, Bayern Munich are not going to sell Michael Olise unless someone forces the issue here. Recently, Uli Hoeness told reporters, via Fabrizio Romano, “Real Madrid wanted Olise? I laughed my head off. The Emperor of China could come to us and we still wouldn't negotiate. The same goes for Luis Díaz”.

The legendary Bayern Munich player and executive is never one to mince words, and while he has been burned by his own hubris before, looking at what Toni Kroos became after leaving Bavaria for the Spanish capital in 2014, but Hoeness is not out of line at all here.

Olise is one of the best players in the world, and he and Bayern beat Real Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals last season. Plus, the French right winger is under contract for a few more seasons, and Real Madrid are about to commit to Vinicius Junior along with Kylian Mbappe and Yan Diomande with Rodrygo Goes and Endrick still on the books. Bayern are not negotiating at all and have no reason to negotiate, and while Florentino Perez won't want to hear it, Bayern are making his chances of landing Olise as close to zero as possible.
