Ever since Kylian Mbappe arrived at Real Madrid after their latest Champions League and La Liga title triumphs, it feels like all the forces of the footballing universe have been working together to try and get this dream move to fail. Los Blancos are on the precipice of a second straight season without a trophy, which is a genuine rarity for Florentino Perez and the club.
Mbappe has become increasingly placed under the microscope in uncomfortable ways, and every thing he does has been picked apart. Real Madrid are not winning at all with him, and when they play without him, they actually look better. Players, fans, and staff are starting to get frustrated with Mbappe, and a media that was protecting him in Spain is slowly taking its gloves off.
There is this narrative that the main problem in Mbappe's way is the other superstar forward he often struggles to co-exist with on the pitch, Vinicius Junior. Many fans believe that Vinicius and Mbappe are in a sort of power struggle, don't see eye to eye, and have been secretely trying to sabotage each other behind the scenes, especially after Xabi Alonso's dismissal.
Vinicius Jr. is not against Kylian Mbappe
But it doesn't sound like any of this is based in logic. MARCA just recently reported, via the Madrid Zone, that Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. actually have a good relationship. In fact, the Spanish outlet states that Vinicius and Mbappe regularly go on double dates with each other and their partners for dinner, spending quality time as teammates off the pitch.
This isn't the first report to douse heaping amounts of cold water on the rumors of a rift between the star forwards, and on social media and in matches, Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. are often cordial with each other. They regularly praise each other in press conferences. And if there were a cold war betwen them, you would think the evidence of it would be more clear cut.
Vinicius Jr. is not Kylian Mbappe's enemy. The idea that Vinicius is sabotaging him is a myth created by Mbappe's cult and the few people who bizarrely hate the Brazilian and want to see him fail. Mbappe's enemy is himself and Real's lack of wins. His enemy is his poor defensive effort, lack of positional understanding at striker, and the fact that Real, as a team, are weaker than their board and Florentino Perez would like to think. Other teammates like the Spanish contingent and Jude Bellingham don't seem to have as warm of a relationship, but Vinicius is clearly not the one to blame here.
