Real Madrid fans cannot help but feel absolutely gutted for their superstar left winger Vinicius Junior, who left it all on the line for his country against Norway in the World Cup Round of 16. He created beautiful chances for his teammates that were wasted, particularly an insane trivela with perfect weight down the middle of the field for Madrid teammate Enrick, and he finished the game with six dribbles completed as an untouchable foe for Julian Ryerson.

But at the end of the day, for as many chances as Brazil created, including a penalty kick that Bruno Guimaraes tamely hit near the middle, it didn't matter because Norway and their superstar Erling Haaland took those chances.

Haaland was insane and showed exactly why he is the best Galactico that Real Madrid failed to sign - and not France's Michael Olise. He only needed two chances and took both with aplomb, heading home and swiping an inch perfect, driven shot from the edge of the box into the far corner.

Vinicius Jr. is winking at Haaland

After the match while Haaland was talking to the press, Vinicius Junior came by to give the Norwegian No. 9 a handshake in a lovely sign of respect between two of the world's best players. The moment can be seen at this link.

It may not seem like much, but Vinicius Jr. has not done this for just any player, and in the last weeks, we have seen VIni and Haaland showing great sportsmanship together on social media. And just before the game, Haaland's father Alfie told DAZN in Spain that you can never rule out a move to Real Madrid for his son because any player would dream of the club.

Given how close Erling Haaland was to Real Madrid in the past and how the transfer rumors will not die, VInicius Jr.'s show of respect to Haaland was what many in Spain like to refer to as a wink. It was one crack of a footballer winking at another, saying I see you, I respect you, and I would love for us to play in the same team together one day.

Right now, Real Madrid do not need to sign a striker. Right winger Michael Olise is on Florentino Perez's agenda, and the club are backing Kyilan Mbappe, who is another friend of VIni's, 100 percent. But Madridistas, having watched Real struggle to win trophies since signing Mbappe, can't help but dream about Haaland, whose rapport with Jude Bellingham and Vini may make him a better fit as a more pure 9.
