Real Madrid star left winger Vinicius Junior is having a phenomenal 2026 despite flying under the radar and actually receiving bizarre criticism, including from within his own fan base. He led all players in the Champions League with assists and only Harry Kane has scored more goals in the current calendar year so far.

Playing for Brazil today in a friendly against Panama, Vinicius Jr. had a field day, feasting on a weaker opponent with an early goal and an assist as part of a 6-2 win. Vini was obviously brilliant and made a clear statement to the world that he is ready to shine at the World Cup 2026 for the Selecao, especially as the face of the team with Neymar injured again.

But the real beautiful moment of the game in the very first minute was this insane goal Vinicius Jr. scored all by his lonesome. Brazil recovered the ball from a sloppy, sleeping Panama with great team work defensively, and Vinicius Jr. did not miss, taking full advantage of the mix up to catch the keeper by surprise with a venomous strike from 25 meters out that no keeper in the world would be able to stop.

Vinicius Jr. has goal scoring quality

As much as Kylian Mbappe is praised for his goal scoring, he has wasted a lot of chances this season with a worst shots to goals ratio than the likes of Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz at Real Madrid. Many of his goals have been from penalties, the well has run dry recently, and his all around game has been terrible both offensively and defensively.

Vinicius Jr., though, has been working hard, creating chances, beating defenders in one on twos even, and, like for Brazil with this strike, scoring great goals from nowhere. People seem to be forgetting that Vinicius Jr. has a strong scoring record despite being a winger who spends so much time and energy pressing and carrying the ball.

This brilliant strike in the first minute was a reminder of the individual goal scoring quality that Vinicius Jr. possesses, and there are a lot of people around the world, including some Real Madrid fans, who need to put some respect on his name.

Kylian Mbappe also has to realize that while Vinicius is working hard to create chances for him on the wings, that he also needs to start doing a better job of passing to Vini because Vini might be even more capable of scoring the goals, especially since he has outled him in the goals department ever since Real Madrid's new manager Alvaro Arbeloa wisely stopped pandering his gameplan only to him.
