Real Madrid star Arda Guler has called Thibaut Courtois the greatest goalkeeper of all time in a recent interview. Turkey played Belgium in the UEFA Nations League on Friday night, and even though Courtois was not in the squad to face Guler's team on the night, the conversation is still about Courtois, and where he ranks according to his Real Madrid teammate.

The Turkish international called him the greatest of all time, and it is no surprise as to why he would do that.

Courtois has been one of the most consistently great goalkeepers for most of his career. He's definitely the best goalkeeper of his generation because his stints at Chelsea and Atletico Madrid were already really good, and the time at Real Madrid has been on a different level altogether.

If you combine all of his stints at these three teams, you get a player who not only has the longevity of an all-time great but also the quality and leadership of one.

Thibaut Courtois has been great for a very long time

Courtois has been the best goalkeeper in the world since 2020. His first season at the club wasn't the greatest, but since then he has been at a ridiculously high level and has saved them countless times in the Champions League as well as the league.

Everyone watches Champions League matches of Real Madrid and sees Courtois make some unbelievable saves. The truth of the matter is that he has had to make those kinds of saves in the league on so many occasions as well, but no one is actually watching to notice them.

Courtois is so great, but even then, because of the reason mentioned above, he is still underrated when it comes to the greatest of all time discussion. He already is in that conversation, but when he retires, he will be there even more so than he is now, and there will be no one doubting it at that time.

Guler has probably seen his Belgian teammate save a billion goals like it was another Tuesday. In reality, there aren't many goalkeepers in the history of the game who can do what he has done at this level with such consistency, and that is not up for debate.

It is clear to everyone now that Courtois still has at least a couple more all-time seasons in him, so it will be interesting to see how much that would further strengthen his hold on the title that Guler has given him.
