Real Madrid are starting their La Liga campaign on Tuesday against Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu, and it is safe to say fans are excited
Real Madrid will play for the first time in almost 40 days, and they will look to right the wrongs they had against PSG in their last match.
Xabi Alonso gave a press conference on Monday, which revolved around a host of things that have happened between the two games.
One talking point was about Rodrygo's future, and Alonso made his feelings crystal clear about the situation. He obviously did not go too deep into the topic, but made a fair statement about the situation right now.
Xabi Alonso makes stance clear on Rodrygo amid exit rumors
He said: “There are many rumors in the summer.
"I have seen him doing well. I am counting on everyone, and I want them to feel for and with the team and be 100% committed. That is what concerns me and what I am focused on right now.”
Rodrygo has been linked with a move to Manchester City in the last weeks, and if Savio Savinho leaves the club this summer, the Cityzens will go for Rodrygo as he is Pep Guardiola's dream target.
For now, though, Rodrygo is a Real Madrid player, and according to Alonso, he is committed and training well. That is essentially what matters right now.
If he leaves in the future, so be it, but for now, he is a Real Madrid player, and the club will continue to rely on him until there is a concrete departure.
Rodrygo could still stay at Real Madrid if City don't try to sign him in the remaining two weeks of the transfer window, and if that happens, Alonso will need him at the top of his game because anything less will not be enough anymore.
