Real Madrid beat WSG Tirol 4-0 in their only publicly-shown friendly game ahead of the new season, and even though the opponent wasn't great, Real Madrid certainly were.

Tirol got played out of their own park after a brilliant performance from Real Madrid, and even though it was just a friendly, things seem to be clicking.

The team wasn't perfect, but there are a few things that looked really good, and one of them was Arda Guler.

If Real Madrid fans have been following the team during the boring month that we have just had, there is one thing that has been popping up on everyone's Twitter feeds, and that is Xabi Alonso wanting a midfielder.

After that Guler performance, however, the need of a signing should become less urgent.

Real Madrid may not need a midfielder anymore

I am not trying to glorify a friendly, but Real Madrid's midfield finally looks like it has chemistry. Guler may not be better than some of the other midfielders that Real Madrid have or had last season, but the one thing he has over them is his big part in Real Madrid's buildup structure.

Guler has become a huge part in it now, and he is looking really good with the team as a starter. Guler is also winning defensive duels, and while there are things he needs to improve on, this is a good sign.

Guler has been working well with the likes of Fede Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni and Jude Bellingham. Against Tirol, with the absence of the Englishman, the youngster was given license to roam in advanced positions, which resulted in two assists in a brilliant performance.

Guler would have to keep his level up when the real season starts, but once that happens, this team would start looking more and more like what Alonso wants them to be, and then, all he would need is a Castilla midfielder who could fill up the gaps.
