Edouardo Camavinga was great for France in their 4-1 comeback win over Belgium on Monday. Camavinga capped off his international break with a pretty good performance as a central midfielder under Zinedine Zidane and looked much better than the underwhelming player he has been for Real Madrid over these last couple of years.

It wasn't anything outstanding, but Camavinga did the simple things right. He was platformed well by Zinedine Zidane and ended up having a pretty good performance, which would slowly help him regain his confidence as a football player.

He has shown some half-decent performances for Real Madrid this season, but the games that he played for France were on a different level. Against Belgium, he played his best game of the season.

Eduardo Camavinga was great for France in this international break

In 88 minutes, Camavinga had eight recoveries. He completed 63 of his 71 passes, including 11 of them going into the final third. He had one tackle, one clearance, four interceptions, and he also committed zero fouls in the process.

If you disregard his stats, Camavinga looked more confident and comfortable with the ball. He was making himself available for a pass whenever his teammates were out of options and when France had the ball. He was actually roaming around in advanced areas of the pitch, particularly on the right half-space, to give France some extra intensity whenever they lost the ball.

Does this mean Camavinga is officially back to his best and is going to be in contention for a starting role for Real Madrid after the international break? No, but it is certainly a good step that he has had to take for a very long time.

Everyone knows Camavinga is a very talented football player, but so many things have come in his way that simply do not make much sense. He is now 24 years old, and he still has time to prove that he will reach his potential.

For that to happen, he would need to be a lot more consistent than he has been. This is a really good sign, and hopefully it continues at the Bernabeu as well. It is a lot easier said than done, especially considering the amount of difficulties the Frenchman has had in terms of consistency in his career. Hopefully, under the tutelage of Zidane, everything finally comes to fruition, and he starts playing the way everyone wants him to.
