Real Madrid are and will always be loaded with world class and superstar talent. Even with an already deep attack, young superstar in the making Marco Asensio is showing he is going to be special.

Asensio, 21, was born in Palma, Majorca, Spain, on January 21st. Marco grew up in the Mallorca youth system until his call to the first team in the 2013-2014 season. Shortly after his debut season, Real Madrid purchased the young Spanish attacker for just about $5M, and now a little over three years later, Marco now has a €330M release clause on his new contract.

Asensio saw two seasons on loan before making his way into the Madrid squad. Those two years on loan saw him go to his home club Mallorca and one at LaLiga side RCD Espanyol. Both loan stints served him well as his talents would not only continue to be showcased, but he would receive ample playing time to improve.

He returned to Los Blancos for this past season, and despite limited playing time, Asensio was nothing short of wonderful.

With guys like Ronaldo, Benzema, James, Bale, Isco and more, it is evident Real Madrid’s attack is loaded, but Asensio still carved his way in. At just 21-years-old, Marco played over 1,300 minutes for Real and banged in 13 goals, as well as 3 assists. Solid numbers for a kid bought for less than what Ronaldo makes in a month.

Asensio isn’t just a scorer though, he can really do it all.

His 3 assists prove it as well as his pass completion percentage which was just short of 90% for this past LaLiga campaign. As you can see in the graphic attached to the tweet above, Asensio practically outplayed full-time Barcelona man and class player Ivan Rakitic. That’s a big accomplishment for a 21-year-old.

Asensio did his dirty work all over this year but was most successful this season on the left wing. Marco is also extremely capable of playing through the middle as well as on the right. Asensio should also expect to see more playtime this upcoming season. Not only because he will improve, but with the likelihood of James Rodriguez being sold, he will be eating up all the game time the Colombian will leave behind.

There are not many players better than Asensio right now in the world, especially at his age. Besides Kylian Mbappe, Gabriel Jesus and Ousmane Dembele, there might not even be any under 21 player who is a nongoalkeeper worthy of a comparison to Asensio, that’s how good he has proven to be.

In a world where transfer fees are becoming ludicrous, and you can pay over $50M for a squad midfielder, $5M for this type of talent might turn out to be one of the great steals of all time.
