Mateo Kovacic – Midfield

Another under study is Mateo Kovacic. The Croatian currently sits behind fellow Croatian superstar, Luka Modric. Mateo honestly doesn’t get the game time he deserves at Real.

It isn’t by choice I am sure of it, it is just that Luka is so good that it’s hard to drop him. Regardless though, the 23-year-old Balkan highlights his fantastic talents every time he gets on the field.

I feel as if Kovacic will soon get his chance soon though. With Modric’s impending legal problems and him increasing in age, it would come to no surprise of mine to see Mateo in more action this season, especially if Real goes on a deep cup run. Kovacic will soon be a special player for Real.

Real Madrid has had three midfielders on this list but already have a solid starting three. How will Zidane play them all this season? Read my article on the depth of the midfield below.
