After one of the best starts to a coaching career possible, Zinedine Zidane has the chance to win a huge award to show for his great successes with Real Madrid. The French manager is nominated for the best coach in FIFA award. Here’s everything you need to know.
Zidane has won seven titles since taking over at the club he used to play for. He has also lost just seven matches since he took over back in January of 2016.
FIFA have recognized the incredible job Zizou has done as he’s been nominated for the best coach in the world award alongside 11 other managers.

Of the list of 12 managers, two are former Real managers, Carlo Ancelotti and Jose Mourinho. Also featured on the list is Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, who was able to beat Zidane once in the return leg in the Champions League semifinal.
This is just the preliminary list of nominees, with the list being reduced to three names in September, before the announcement of the award October 23rd in London.
Last season, Zidane finished second in the voting, but after winning the Club World Cup, LaLiga, his second consecutive Champions League, second consecutive UEFA Super Cup, and the Spanish Super Cup, he has a very good chance to win it this year.
Zidane has taken Real Madrid out of troubling times back in the 2014/2015 season and returned Los Blancos to the top of the footballing world with trophy after trophy.
If I was to put money on who would win this award, I would double down on Zidane. Last season, it was Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri who won the award after leading his side to their first ever Premier League title against all odds.
According to the release from the Real Madrid official website, “The Best award for best coach is voted for by captains coaches from national teams, one journalist who represents each national side and fans who are registered on FIFA.com.”
Expect Zidane to be in the final three, and likely the winner of this prestigious honor.
