How Valencia has returned to the top of the league

Seeing Valencia sitting second in the La Liga table just four points adrift of FC Barcelona is a true feel-good story.

After finishing the 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 season in 12th place, manager Marcelino has his team playing fantastic football that is very fun to watch.

PSG loanee, Goncalo Guedes, has been the guy for Valencia all year scoring 3 goals and providing 5 assists. It hasn’t just been Guedes, however, as the team as a whole is clicking on all cylinders.

More from The Real Champs

In their last four matches, the side from the eastern coast of Spain has outscored their opponents 15-4 and haven’t lost a match yet this season. Watch out for this side going forward.

How Ernesto Valverde stabilized Barcelona

This isn’t as much of a feel-good story for Real Madrid seeing their rivals from Catalonia return to the top of the league.

New manager Ernesto Valverde had a tough start to the season losing badly to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Copa, but since, Barca has won 13 matches and drawn just twice in La Liga and Champions League play combined.

Sheesh.

The Guardian gives an inside look as to how Valverde has dominated early in his tenure.

Young striker Patrik Schick eyes La Liga move

He has only been with Roma for a few months and has featured in just one match as a substitute but forward Patrik Schick is eyeing a move to a La Liga giant.

The 21-year-old who burst onto the scene with Sampdoria during the 2016/2017 season has been struggling with injuries since joining the side from Rome.

Schick wants to play for either Barca or Real Madrid, but I think he needs to show his true worth before saying such things.
