Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo is said to be receiving a new contract from the higher-ups at Real Madrid before the start of the World Cup this summer. Here are the details on the Portuguese stars potential deal.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been in fine form since the turn of the New Year after a very slow start to the season. The winger has broken some landmark records and continues to set some more as the season progresses. Ronaldo has now scored more goals than games he has played this season. Cristiano is on his best over goal scoring run having scored 22 times in his last 12 matches.

With his talents being so integral to Real Madrid’s success, it seems that President Florentino Perez is not yet ready to part ways with his franchise player. The board at the Bernebéu is looking to increase his salary but not change the expiration of his current contract.

Last time Ronaldo put pen to paper in the boardroom of Real Madrid was back in November of 2016,  extending his stay in Madrid until June 30, 2021. While he will still have the same expiration on his contract, sources close to Ronaldo say that his pay salary will increase.

Many have questioned why he is not in the same pay bracket as Lionel Messi, even Neymar is being paid more the Portuguese winger.

As of now, Messi still leads the salary rankings earning a whopping €45 million per year. In a surprising second, is Neymar Jr. who, of course, earns an astounding amount at PSG with a €35 million annual salary.

Much closer in third place will be Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo’s current contract has his earnings at €21 million but will be bumped up to €30 million upon signing his new deal.

CR7 is likely to earn a few more million in bonuses as he scores goals and chases trophies for the Whites.

There is no doubt that Ronaldo deserves a pay increase given how much he has done for his club this season. Real Madrid will be hoping that he continues his fine form Wednesday as they face Bayern Munich in the semifinals of the Champions League.

Given his age, it will be interesting to see if the board extend the talismans contract in addition to the wage increase.
