Real Madrid has released their new kits for the upcoming season starting in August. Here’s a look at the jerseys and some interesting findings.

Real Madrid, along with partner Adidas, have presented the new kits for next season. Early last night, the Official Website was down as the club prepared for the release of their new wear. Hours later, images and promo videos were posted along with prices. For now, the jersey may only be bought on the Adidas website or at the Real Madrid store.

With the website back up and running, players like Karim Benzema shared the promotional video on their Twitter accounts. Players can be seen wearing both the first and second kit of the new season. The video featured Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos, Marcelo, Sergio Ramos, and Karim Benzema.

First Kit

The first kit is somewhat reminiscent of the jersey worn in the 2014/2015 season. The jersey is a simple white with the three black stripes of Addidas on the shoulders. Real Madrid says its design comes from the 2002 season, the one where Zidane scored the incredible volley against Bayer Leverkusen. Designers also pointed out the single button mentioning its ability to “modernize this classic design.”

Second Kit

The second kit is darker, much like that of the 2017/2018 season, and also similar to the 2016-2017 kit. The stripes on the shoulder are a metallic color adding some pop to the deep color used on this year’s jersey.

Addidas added some contrast making the logo and sponsor a bright white. Unlike the first kit, there is no button but will be a V-neck rather than crew neck.

No Ronaldo?

With the big-name players posing and acting in the promotional video, many have been wondering where is Cristiano Ronaldo. Surely the Portuguese man does not shy away from the camera, after all, he has his own briefs and boxers brand.

Not only was he not present in the shared media, his face was missing from the headshots of players shown on the website. Even Borja Mayoral was there, and he is likely to leave. With Ronaldo’s comments over the past couple of days, it’s hard to dictate whether the talisman is staying or leaving.

While some fans are in a fury about the situation, others are quite zen with Marca reporting that Ronaldo is negotiating a new contract with President Florentino Perez. It’s hard to make sense of it all and fans will simply have to wait until the first game of the season to see if Ronaldo is still with Real.

Third Kit and More

As of now, no third kit has been released which indicates Real are following their same pattern from the previous season. Often times, the club waits until later in the summer to release the alternate kit. Patches such as the 13 UCL and Club World Cup are available at an additional cost.

For those interested in buying what is now last seasons jersey may do so, but chances are items will not be restocked.
