Real Madrid was left awestruck when they heard the news of Zinedine Zidane stepping down from his managerial position. The club now needs a top manager, and former Napoli boss, Maurizio Sarri could be just what they need to continue winning.

Why Sarri would be a good choice

Sarri’s name has been thrown around heavily for clubs looking for a top manager. With the likes of Arsenal originally pursuing him, it’s now Real Madrid’s turn for a change in the managerial position.

His play style embodies Real Madrid’s playing philosophy. He plays very attacking football that produces amazing results. Additionally, he could reshape the defense and give it a better structure.

When looking at the attack, we can see how he uses every single player to build an attack. There isn’t heavy reliance on the forwards to produce an attack. When he managed Napoli, the team was very fluid and moved as a unit.

Using his tactics to build out of the back can only aide Real Madrid. After struggling heavily under pressure defensively, now is the chance to redeem themselves. If Real Madrid gained defensive compactness and structure, it would give players more peace of mind while also saving players their stamina and legs.

Another reason is his ability to work with Real Madrid’s midfield. Sarri usually opts for a 4-3-3 formation. The midfielders he would likely work with would be Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Casemiro, and Isco.

The technical skill and footballing IQ of these players are among the best in the world. With an attacking tactician like Sarri aiding them, the gameplay would be stunning. Though Real Madrid has their moments, they haven’t necessarily played eye catching football under Zidane.

Within football, there’s nothing more you can ask from a manager, but there are also reasons why Sarri won’t fit in at the club.

Reason’s why Sarri won’t come to Real Madrid

Being a great tactician is good, but it isn’t everything. Sarri has come with his fair share of problems over the past few years with his comments and general composure with the media.

The first issue that happened over two years ago was the clash between Sarri and Roberto Mancini. Mancini was called a number of things by the former Napoli manager, which set off several fans and the media like. Sarri’s remarks were very disappointing, especially in this day and age as we progress as a society.

Next: Real Madrid cannot afford any gambles this summer

The next issue following Sarri, are the sexist comments he made to a reporter during a press conference when asked about his side’s chances of winning the Scudetto. He downgraded a woman just for asking a simple question.

Both situations could have been handled differently with better composure. Is he really the type of manager that Real Madrid would want representing them? Additionally, would he be able to control the big egos in the dressing room and gain their respect?

These questions and many more are what the club’s directors will be asking before they appoint a new manager.
