Real Madrid learned their La Liga schedule Tuesday and will be happy avoid the domestic top shots during the initial weeks. The first El Clásico of the season will take place on matchday 10 and the first Madrid Derby at the end of September. Here is a look at the full fixture list.
La Liga has officially released the fixtures for all 20 teams as a Cristiano Ronaldo-less Real Madrid launch their bid for an unprecedented 34th domestic title at home against Getafe on August 19th.
Unlike rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, Los Blancos are cleared of tough fixtures during the opening few games, presenting an opportunity to take an early initiative in the title race, and open up a healthy advantage.
The first El Clasico of the season will be played on Sunday, October 28th as Real Madrid travel to the Camp Nou while the return leg at the Santiago Bernabeu is set for early March, 2019.
Amongst the other important fixtures, the Madrid Derby is scheduled for September 30th at home while the Wanda Metropolitano will play hosts to the second leg on February 10th. Real Madrid ends the first half of the season with a daunting trip to El Madrigal to face Villarreal just three days ahead of Christmas, and recommence the campaign after the two-week winter break with a home game against Real Sociedad on January 6th.
The season concludes at home on 19th May against Real Betis at home.
For the first time in 10 years, Real Madrid begin a campaign without their talismanic No.7 Ronaldo, who departed for Juventus earlier this month. With Julen Lopetegui also taking over the helm from Zinedine Zidane, it’s quiet uncertain what to expect from the season as the club stares at one of the defining seasons in its recent history.
