Real Madrid will keep a close eye on English playmaker Raheem Sterling this season as the club decides whether or not they want to splash the cash to bring in the prolific player. Here is what is being said.

Los Blancos aren’t in a terrible spot right now in terms of talent in the squad. However, the European media and fans alike seem to think that President Florentino Perez is determined to make another Galactico signing sooner rather than later.

23-year-old Raheem Sterling could be that next guy according to reports from The Mirror, Sky Sports, and ESPNFC. While the news of the club’s interest spread like wildfire on Tuesday leading into Wednesday, there was a sense of calm on the situation.

Manchester City is on a torrent pace in the Premier League and is being pegged as the front-runner to retain the league title this season, in large part thanks to Sterling’s play since coming over from Liverpool.

The shifty goalscorer can play in seemingly any position and help the attack with his pace and dribbling speed. He enjoyed the best season of his short but already impressive career in 2017/2018, racking up 18 goals and 11 assists in 33 appearances.

It seems the deal will not get done before the window closes across Europe on Friday, meaning Real Madrid will continue to monitor Raheem’s play and determine if they want to make an offer for him next summer.

The English international has two years remaining on his current deal with City and could not reach an agreement with the club on a long-term contract two months ago. Thus, if Real can manage to wait until the summer of 2020, they could potentially sign one of the hottest players in Europe on a free contract (I am extremely doubtful City will let him walk for free).

With Eden Hazard staying put and Sterling doing the same for the next year at least, it seems this is going to be the Real Madrid squad for at least the next four months. The January transfer window could lead to some shake-ups based on what happens this fall, but don’t expect anymore big signings.

The biggest potential signing could be Mariano Diaz returning from Lyon if Perez is ready to throw a little cash at the French club. Lopetegui has already said that he is in favor of Mariano coming back and the player has voiced that same desire. It all comes down to if Florentino is ready to bring the talented striker in for some €20 million.

As far as Raheem Sterling goes, be sure to watch him on international duty next month as England host Spain at Wembley Stadium. Rumor has it several Real Madrid scouts and executives will go to the match to watch him.
