What a weekend for Real Madrid fans! The debut game of Santiago Solari against Eibar was humiliating. We as Madrid fans always pride ourselves on history, right? Though, having beaten Roma 2-0 Tuesday night, can the team begin to click this season into gear?!  Who knows! We press on however with Question Corner #2!

A new position for Marco Asensio?

Marco Asensio has had an incredibly turbulent season, to say the least. Having gone from being seen as the future of Madrid and the heir of Ronaldo – he now finds himself in quite the opposite position. With fans questioning his true ability and mentality, where has it gone wrong for him?

Well, let us delve into that, Asensio is clearly struggling in his position on the left-wing. Marco is a very talented player and it is quite frankly bewildering that he isn’t starting on Madrid’s right flank, a position that he looks phenomenal in for the Spanish national team.

When Spain battered Croatia 6-0, Asensio was the star of the show – setting up three and scoring a cracking goal of his own. He was far more comfortable drifting in from the right side – he’s also just as comfortable playing as a free-roaming attacking-mid or secondary striker (see his run against Bayern Munich in the 16/17 UCL campaign).

Given that the team has other players capable and more comfortable on the left and given the dismal form of Gareth Bale – Asensio should be given the chance to play on the right.

What’s the worst that could happen in trying? Best case scenario, Solari’s men unlock the dilemma and Asensio will hit his best form for us. That sounds like a win-win to me. Ultimately, it is down to the coach, however.
