It seems no secret by this point that Real Madrid are targeting superstars for the upcoming summer transfer window. Zinedine Zidane and the club are particularly keen on Paul Pogba and Eden Hazard, with Zidane praising them both openly, Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has also spoke about them.

Real Madrid fans are seemingly counting down the days until the opening of the summer transfer window. With a disappointing season coming to a close, Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane are eager to resurrect the club to ensure an improvement next term. With fans dreaming of players, two that have been consistently linked are Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.

With Zinedine Zidane already openly praising the pair – Casemiro has helped the cause by also showing his admiration of the Premier League superstars, when asked on his thoughts about the club signing the two, he said: “I always say that Madrid must have the best players, as this is the best club in the world, but it is not for me to say which players should be signed.”

The midfielder was particularly effusive in his praise for Paul Pogba as he went onto say: “A world class player at his level can play in any team. If he comes to Madrid he would be welcomed very well, we know he is a great player.”

The winds of change are certainly ringing throughout the Spanish capital. With a change in manager in Zinedine Zidane returning to the club and numerous rumours about the futures of current stars, fans are eager to see what sort of overhaul takes place.

With struggles domestically, exiting cups in shocking fashion and appearing to be the weakest Real Madrid has been in years, commitment of the players has been called into question. Despite having won so much silverware in recent years, it is clear that this Real Madrid team is statistically at its lowest. Alongside this, the rumours around stars such as Raphael Varane is unsettling, Keylor Navas has seemingly accepted his fate – even new recruits like Courtois have been rumoured to be shot out the door. It is clear that a new era is needed at Real Madrid with many of the old guard struggling, despite the brilliance of others.

When questioned about concerns over the future of current stars, Casemiro responded: “Those who have failed this year are the same as those who won three Champions Leagues in a row. Great players are always welcome, but we have a great squad already, and we will win things again.”

Gareth Bale and Marcelo in particular have been highlighted for their rough patches this season, the Welshman and the Brazilian have both seen their fair share of criticism throughout the campaign. However, Casemiro feels that the criticism is premature: “We should not talk about Marcelo’s season, as we have all failed collectively. He is a great player and five months ago was named the best left back in the world. Bale has given this club many trophies, scored many goals. Maybe we have not had a good season, but we are all together in this.”

Despite the links to new recruits, Casemiro painted a picture of unity within the team despite the struggles: “At this club, we lose all together just like we win together,” Casemiro added. “When one player is whistled, we are all whistled, we see things that way as a group.”
