Report: Real Madrid will sign Christian Eriksen
By Hasan Karim
With the season now over and the summer transfer window now open, the rumour mill is expected to turn. With Real Madrid expected to spend big this summer, with the likes of Eden Hazard and Paul Pogba on the radar, Christian Eriksen is the latest name to emerge as a summer target.
Both Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur have previously dealt with each-other on the transfer front. With the Spanish giants having purchased the likes of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale from Spurs in years gone by, it looks as if they could be once again set to be in negotiations with one another over. Denmark international, Christian Eriksen has reportedly drawn interest from Real, who look set to make a deal for the midfielder.
Los Blancos are reportedly confident of striking a deal for the midfielder as a means of replacing ageing star, Luka Modric. Reports within Spain have suggested that the deal is already completed and that it is now just a matter of when the announcement will be made.
The report has claimed that the fee and personal terms have been agreed by all parties. The Dane currently has just a year left on his deal and talks of his future have been a hot topic in the north of London. However, with Spurs in the UEFA Champions League final, the report claims that Real will not announce the move until the final has been played on June 1st.
Whilst Zinedine Zidane is still yet to give his approval of the move, Eriksen could prove a fine addition to the Madrid engine room. The player has the third highest number of assists in the Premier League this season with 12 as well as an additional 8 goals. That is more than any single Real Madrid midfielder this season. Paired with the fact that he is second only to another Real Madrid target in Eden Hazard with key-passes played in the Premier League since 17/18, it is clear that Eriksen has solid creative ability.
With much of the window to go, Eriksen making the switch from North London to the Spanish capital could be one that helps spruce up the Madrid midfield. As a number of stars, including Luka Modric are set to be shown the exit door, it is clear Real will need adequate replacements.
