Eden Hazard

15 goals, 15 assists

It’s startling to think that Real Madrid scored only 64 goals in 2018-2019, just one year after they won the Champions League and bagged 94 goals in La Liga. Eden Hazard has been purchased to immediately take Real’s attack to the next level, and the Real faithful have put their full trust in the former Chelsea superstar.

Honestly, 15 goals and 15 assists is the yearly benchmark Hazard sets. It is entirely possible he nabs 20 assists, too, since he’ll work with better attackers than he did at Chelsea last season. But with health and the consistency of the players around him somewhat uncertain, 15 goals seems like a far more reasonable estimation.

That would still make him one of Europe’s most prolific chance creators, which is a distinction he held last year. Hazard’s dribbling and passing ability make him a terror, but defenses also cannot ignore his lethal finishing. The Belgian winger’s individual class is undeniable, and he will cause ample issues for every La Liga defense he faces.

Gareth Bale

14 goals, 5 assists

Gareth Bale has scored at least 15 goals in three La Liga seasons, and last season’s struggles look more like an anomaly than anything else. As last week’s brace against Villarreal showed, Bale still has it. Father time is indeed catching up to the 30-year-old, but he is still one of Europe’s most explosive pure athletes with the ball at his feet.

More importantly, Bale is a devastating finisher. The combination of power and accuracy he gets on his strikes is awe-inspiring, and his shooting range makes him scary for any defense. Bale can ably score from either flank or even with his head, and his work against Villarreal is a sign that he’s headed for a major bounce-back season.

Additionally, Bale began his Real Madrid career with at least nine assists in each of his first three La Liga campaigns. Expect his chance creation to improve, especially since his chemistry with Benzema seems to be at its peak. This is a big year for Bale’s career, and he’s looked more than ready to answer the critics thus far.
