Toni Kroos’ incredible season

Toni Kroos has seen a huge rebound in form in 2019-2020 after a surprising down year in 2018-2019. The concerns that Kroos’ best days were behind him are moot at this point, because the Germany international has been in fabulous form throughout the season.

You can make the argument that Kroos has been as brilliant as Karim Benzema and Casemiro this season, as he’s vital to Real’s success. In Real’s most recent game against PSG, Kroos had a whopping seven key passes and a near-perfect 98.1% passing accuracy percentage, per WhoScored.com.

He more than bounced back from a poor showing against the Ligue 1 giants in September, impressively producing a passing masterclass against an elite midfield of Marco Verratti, Idrissa Gueye, and Marquinhos.

Kroos has flourished in a more attacking role under Zidane this season, pressing the opposition into mistakes and peppering goalkeepers with dangerous shots. He nearly always his the target, and if it weren’t for Keylor Navas’ brilliance against PSG, he could have had a brace.

According to WhoScored.com, Kroos is averaging an insane 4.4 passes per game in the Champions League so far this season. Surely his teammates are just as thankful for his passing chops as we are as fans.
