CM Toni Kroos

In this game, Toni Kroos shifted to a more central midfield role than the attacking midfield role he’s flourished in, so he didn’t provide as man incisive passes for the forwards. Still, he showed his unmatched quality on set pieces with a delivery for Sergio Ramos’ goal that was literally picture-perfect. Kroos controlled the tempo in midfield against Alaves’ trio, recording 90 passes and completing 10 long balls. Accurate as ever with his passing, Kroos put in more dirty work defensively to help his team in a harsh road environment.

Rating: 7.0 out of 10

CAM Luka Modric

Luka Modric received the start as the attacking midfielder, and he finished with three tackles and two key passes. However, he was lucky not to allow a penalty after raising his hand above his head to control the ball. This wasn’t the cleanest of displays from Modric, but the Croatian midfielder has returned to form in recent weeks.

Rating: 6.0 out of 10

LM Isco

Isco showed up all over the pitch in this game, often floating between the lines centrally or even drifting to the right side. But with Eden Hazard injured and both Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo on the bench, it was Isco who started on the left side after getting the nod over Gareth Bale and Rodrygo on the right side at mid-week in the Champions League.

Once again, Isco was dangerous. He sent in some amazing crosses early in the game, and while his influence did wane, it was his header off Pacheco and the post that set up Carvajal’s scrappy winner. Isco showed so much heart to leap with every bit of his strength and get his head on Modric’s cross. Like Modric, Isco has enjoyed a great return to form recently.
