CB Eder Militao

Simply phenomenal and the best player on the pitch. Eder Militao has made a serious case to start more often over either Raphael Varane (more likely) or Sergio Ramos going forward. He made several crucial interventions, looked composed on the ball, always took the safe route, and showed tremendous closing speed when covering for the marauding Dani Carvajal on the right side. Militao is a future star, no doubt.

Rating: 8.0 out of 10

RB Dani Carvajal

Because Alaves were so disciplined defensively, Dani Carvajal had to help out in the attack whenever possible. He had a few sketchy moments defensively against the wonderful Lucas Perez, but Carvajal’s trust in Militao paid off. Carvajal scored the winning goal, anticipating the rebound like a striker and pouncing quickly on the open net.

Rating: 6.5 out of 10

DM Casemiro

As active as usual in midfield, Casemiro had to do double the running with Fede Valverde getting some rest on the bench. Casemiro made a few vintage tackles and always looked to rough it up with Alaves’ impressive attacking trio. He finished the game with three tackles and three interceptions, per WhoScored.com, as he continues his excellent 2019-2020 campaign.
