DM Casemiro

Casemiro was rock solid throughout at the game as he made 4 interceptions highest by any player on the pitch and won the possession numerous times to bail Real Madrid out. Casemiro has been in the best form of his life and continued that with this performance. He mopped up the counters and did well to stop any sort of attacking threat coming Madrid’s way. He did well with Kroos to progress the ball up the field.

Rating: 7.5 out of 10

CM Toni Kroos

Toni Kroos had a quite game overall by his standards but was instrumental in by-passing the Atletico press and did good work defensively to help Mendy throughout the game. He worked with Casemiro in moving the ball forward into the final third and was good with his set pieces as well.

Kroos ended the game with 96% passing accuracy (highest) after completing 94 of his 97 attempted passes. He also completed 3 of his 4 attempted crosses most in the game tied with Modric and Trippier.  He was substituted in 103rd minute for Vinicius Junior.

Rating: 7.5 out of 10

CM Fede Valverde

Fede Valverde was the best player on the pitch by a mile today. He owned the right flank today and mopped up defensively anytime Atletico looked threatening. He received the well deserved Man of the Match award despite getting sent off in extra time. Fede got a red for stopping Alvaro Morata going one on one against Courtois in 115th minute which was the right decision by the Uruguayan as he stopped an almost certain goal.

Even Diego Simeone ended up patting his back while Fede made his way into the tunnel after getting sent off which speaks volume about his performance today. He was constant threat going forward with his pace and dribbling skills and should have got a goal when Jovic’s deflected cross made its way to him but he squandered that chance from point blank range.

He is just 21 and putting in mature performances like this against a tough opposition in a final, it is going to be pretty exciting watching him in future for sure. He completed 8 of his 9 takeons and ended the game with 92% passing accuracy.

Rating: 9.5 out of 10

RAM Luka Modric

Luka Modric had a quite first 90 minutes just like everyone in the midfield apart from Fede who was everywhere. He was good with his distribution as usual but did lose the possession a number of times easily. He combined well with Fede and Dani Carvajal on the right hand side and forced Oblak into two good saves.

Luka Modric switched up a gear in extra time when he played an outrageous pass to Mariano who ended up setting him for a shot. This was probably the best chance Real Madrid created in the whole game and Modric was at the heart of it. Modric completed 83 of his 98 passes in the final third and completed 3 of his 6 crosses.

Rating: 7.5 out of 10

LAM Isco

Isco put in an underwhelming performance today and was the first one to be substituted by Zidane. He roamed around everywhere on the pitch and provided an outlet for progressing the play but was shut down in the final third by Thomas Partey and co.

He had to drop deep to receive the ball and was a bit isolated as compared to the other midfielders and was not able to make an impact the way he did against Valencia. He will have to improve on his consistency to be a regular starter in this star studded Madrid squad.
