Zidane gets the better of Simeone again

Zinedine Zidane’s record against Atleti’s Diego Simeone now stands at four victories, four draws, and two defeats. It seems Zizou has the upper hand on the Argentine as he has now led Real Madrid to two title victories over their city rivals.

While Atleti was sound on defense and held Real at bay for the majority of the match, it was very difficult for Simeone’s men to maintain consistent pressure on the Royal Whites’ back line. Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos were disciplined and stuck to their center back spots while Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy’s tireless work rates on the wings was crucial in slowing down counter attacks.

The tactical setup from Zidane was phenomenal for this match and he did well to make sure all 10 of his outfield players were involved on both ends.

The one area of concern is the inaccuracy shooting the ball. Despite 24 total shots, Real Madrid managed just five on target. But, Zidane should be praised for the way his team has performed thus far in 2020 and has made good use of the talent on his squad.
