2. Reinier Jesus makes Real Madrid debut

Florentino Perez signed yet another Brazilian youngster to continue with his youth project at Real Madrid. Recently, Perez has changed his transfer policy from signing Galacticos to buying talented youngsters to secure the future of the club, as competing in an overinflated market for star players will be extremely tough.

Real Madrid have already racked up Vinicius Junior, Eder Militao, Rodrygo Goes, Takefusa Kubo, Andriy Lunin and Luka Jovic to name a few.

Reinier Jesus adds another dimension to the game as he is a totally different player as compared to others in the squad, as his game is a shadow of former Real Madrid player Kaka’s playing style.

The 18-year-old has got explosiveness and the raw pace of the retired Brazilian midfielder and is a great finisher as well. Zidane won’t play him in Copa del Rey games due to format changes, but I expect to see him making his debut in a (relatively) inconsequential league game.

3. Marco Asensio isn’t ready yet

Every Madridista is eagerly waiting for Marco Asensio to recover from his injury and join the first team. He has been training with ball for a week and has also been included in the Champions League squad for the rest of the season.

The main reason Real Madrid fans are eagerly waiting for his  comeback is lack of a goalscoring winger on the right hand side of the attack. Gareth Bale has been underperforming, and Rodrygo, despite being the second top scorer of the season, has a lot to improve upon.

Asensio fills that role perfectly, as he is a great finisher and a pretty good player on the ball as well. Real Madrid fans expecting him to fire all cylinders just after coming back after seven months from injury is totally unrealistic.

It will take him time to get going, and it is a difficult injury to recover from. Asensio was underwhelming last season where he could have taken the onus of carrying the team when it lacked a leader in attack, but it was 19 yr old Vinicius Jr who stepped up and carried the attack alongside Karim Benzema. I don’t expect much from Asensio this season and will stick to my prediction at the start of season; this may be his last season at the club.
