Real Madrid’s top five players from January
By Ben Sundock
Toni Kroos
The German midfield maestro is like a video game cheat code. Watching Toni Kroos navigate through the middle of the park while also spraying accurate passes all across the pitch is a delight and the €42 million price tag paid to Bayern Munich looks like a bargain now.
Kroos was vital in helping Los Blancos to the Supercopa title and showed his class against lower-league Zaragoza in the Copa del Rey with two first half assists.
Toni has been a workhorse all season long playing nearly 3,000 minutes in all competition, but it doesn’t seem to be affecting the number eight in the slightest.
His pass accuracy and decision making are never flawed and his recent run of form from set pieces has helped Real score several goals. It is hard to argue who has been the best midfielder for Real Madrid this season when Toni Kroos is playing like this, but Casemiro and Fede Valverde are giving him great competition.
Zidane would love to use Kroos in every match, but fighting for three trophies down the stretch will wear on the team and Kroos, like Casemiro and Valverde, can’t play all the time.
