Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappe are starting to seem like an on again off again fling, but here’s why manager Zinedine Zidane will break the deadlock.

Kylian Mbappe made his move from AS Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 in 2017. Since then, Real Madrid fans have complained, whined, and been downright confused as to why the young superstar wasn’t going to dawn the famous white kit.

There are plenty of reasons why it didn’t happen though but until President Florentino Perez gives me a call, I won’t know for certain. Here is what we do know though!

Zinedine Zidane is back, even after a somewhat shaky first couple of months and a select group of so-called “Ultras” calling for his head, the team is looking superb. Madrid has played eight games since the turn of the calendar year, conceding just three goals and keeping four clean sheets, hence why they boast one of the best defensive lines in Europe’s top five leagues.

His man-management is on full display with the emergence of Federico Valverde and the healthy rotation of other youngsters like Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo Goes playing huge roles.

Where am I going with this? Man-management, that’s what I want to talk about.

Zidane has a very unique way of communicating with players and fostering a very special bond. Can you blame the players though?

Eden Hazard is the perfect example of that very essence. The Belgian has admitted that as a youngster he looked up to Zizou and his presence at Real Madrid is part of the reason why he left Chelsea.

The healthy and competitive environment fostered by Zidane will make Mbappe all the more keen to join Real Madrid. The only thing stopping him is his current contract with PSG which runs through the summer of 2022.

Aside from that, we’ve all seen the picture he took with Cristiano Ronaldo and the fact that he has visited a Real Madrid training session at a young age. Mbappe has the opportunity to play for his dream club and under a manager who originates from the same country and whom he has always looked up to.

Through the lens of PSG, it seems like there is trouble in paradise and this could make things even easier for Real Madrid.

During PSG’s last game, manager Thomas Tuchel elected to substitute Mbappe out of the game, and the winger was far from amused. According to AS, Mbappe won’t be sending an apology gift basket any time soon.

The Mbappe saga has turned into a matter of when, rather than if. It’s only fitting that he plays for Real Madrid, so be patient, and that beautiful baldy on the touchline will get the job done!
