ST Mauro Icardi

Out of the three strikers listed here, Mauro Icardi is the one linked to Real Madrid the least, but he’s also the most logical option of the three. Icardi would cost significantly less than either Lautaro Martinez or Harry Kane, seeing as how everyone knows Inter Milan are keen on selling him.

Perhaps PSG buy him permanently after he played so well for them in 2019-2020, but it doesn’t sound like Leonardo’s club is intent on making that move.

However, someone will surely pay 70 million euros – or press Inter into taking a lower fee – after Icardi rehabbed his value in Ligue 1. The No. 9 never got into any off-field trouble and was as good as ever on the pitch, showing his lethal finishing and even better link-up play than expected.

Icardi wouldn’t be out of place at a club like Real Madrid, and he would greatly ease the pressure off Karim Benzema. But he would also end up being a roadblock to Luka Jovic, unless if Real see Jovic’s development taking longer than expected. (And no, I don’t think Real have given up on Jovic yet!)

At 27, Icardi is also heading into his prime years as a forward, but it seems like he’ll join another club in Serie A. Icardi probably wouldn’t say “no” to Los Blancos, but Florentino Perez and Zinedine Zidane would probably want to avoid someone with his possible red flags.
