Midfield

Defensive Midfielder – Casemiro

Casemiro is having the best season of his career. The defensive midfielder is, without doubt, the best in his position in Spain, and possibly the world.

He is indispensable for Real Madrid and has played the most minutes for Zidane this season along with Benzema and Ramos. He leads La Liga in tackles, interceptions, and ball recoveries by a defensive midfielder per 90 minutes.

Central Midfielder – Martin Odegaard

Without question, Martin Odegaard is a shoo-in for the Team of the Season. He emerged as a wonder kid at 16, but it took some time for him to get the credit he deserved. Five years later, the Norwegian has finally arrived in La Liga in style.

He has been one of the main reasons behind Real Sociedad competing for the Champions League spot and sitting at 4th place in the table. He has four goals and five assists and only behind Messi with 2.3 key passes per game.

Central Midfielder – Toni Kroos

The German Midfielder is known as the sniper for a reason. Very few can match his passing accuracy along with his passing range. No one in La Liga betters his successful pass percentage of 93.6% this season.

Passing is not the only arsenal Toni Kroos possesses. His ability to control the game is second to none. Casemiro famously said that Real Madrid plays how Kroos wants them to play, and his terrific form means Los Blancos is contending for La Liga this year.

The former Bayern midfielder also has three goals and five assists to his name in the 2019/20 season and impresses with 2.1 key passes per game.
