Real Madrid fans remember how Cristiano Ronaldo left for Juventus before the 2018-2019 season, and now The Old Lady may be targeting Zinedine Zidane, too.
Unfortunately, the Zinedine Zidane rumors just won’t stop. Last season, the Real Madrid manager was the subject of much speculation in the first half of the season after a couple of disappointing results in the Champions League, leading rumors to state he could be replaced by Mauricio Pochettino or even Jose Mourinho.
Instead, those rumors were rubbished, as Zidane led Real to the knockout stages of the Champions League and had the club outplaying all of their rivals in La Liga.
However, now the rumor mill is stating that Zidane might be the one who wants to break things off with Real Madrid and president Florentino Perez. It’s unclear why he would do this, but perhaps the logic is that he’s upset over not getting his preferred transfer targets, which seems flimsy grounds to speculate a departure.
Nevertheless, le10sport.com reports, via Football-Italia.net, that Juventus are “sending out signals” to those close to Zidane. They are reportedly under the impression that there is friction between Zidane and Perez at the Bernabeu.
Juventus seemingly want Zidane to immediately replace Maurizio Sarri next season, as Zidane, given his three straight Champions League titles, would represent an upgrade. He would also be reunited with Cristiano Ronaldo, who helped the France legend achieve such dominance in the manager’s seat. Furthermore, Juve have also been linked to Real Madrid left back Marcelo.
There are always rumors about Zidane’s future, and they usually amount to nothing. Juventus should put out feelers for Zidane, because it’s due diligence on their part. It may not be wise in the sense that it could cause Sarri to feel pressure and mistrust, but he may already be feeling those things anyway; it isn’t easy being a manager at a top club like Juve or Real.
