Real Madrid can sometimes be their own worst enemy.

By holding the two other top teams in La Liga and bitter rivals FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid to zero goals across five head-to-head matches in 2019-2020, Real Madrid showed they are indeed the best team in Spain.

Unfortunately, Los Blancos can sometimes falter in the winnable games, as evidenced by their 2-1 defeat to Real Betis just one week after blowing out Barcelona at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid have what it takes to win La Liga in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021, but here are five challenges standing in their way.

Real Madrid’s Attacking Depth

Since Real Madrid won’t be able to make any big signings in the 2020 summer transfer window, they will have to make do with what they have in 2019-2020 and potentially 2020-2021. Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio are set to return from injuries by the time the league campaign returns, but their injuries are a reminder of how precarious depth can be.

Real have one of the deepest squads in La Liga, but they still have problems up front. Luka Jovic is out, leaving Karim Benzema and Mariano Diaz as the only options at striker. The left wing position is stocked, but on the right side, how much faith can Real have in Gareth Bale, Lucas Vazquez, and the young Rodrygo Goes as their best options?

It’s a tough situation that will be helped when Achraf Hakimi returns as a possible forward option, but Real don’t quite have their ideal front line in the Revolution.
