Real Madrid need to believe in the ‘Revolution’.

Last summer, Real Madrid set the groundwork for the years to come by signing several talented young players in Zinedine Zidane’s first full transfer window in his second stint with the club. Real added a No. 9 of the future in Luka Jovic, a great young center back in Eder Militao, a superstar fullback in Ferland Mendy, talented attacking midfielder Takefusa Kubo, and a future free-scoring forward in Rodrygo Goes.

But their biggest addition – and by far their most impactful in the short term – was left winger Eden Hazard, who tore apart Arsenal in the Europa League Final as his parting gift to Chelsea after a legendary career at Stamford Bridge.

Hazard is the centerpiece player and attacking superstar alongside Karim Benzema. Although it took Hazard some time to show his talent, by the Fall, he was Real’s best player and untouchable to any defense. When he returns from injury, Real will be that much better.

More from The Real Champs

In Hazard, Benzema, Sergio Ramos, Casemiro, Toni Kroos, Thibaut Courtois, and others, Real Madrid have players who are currently among the world’s best at their respective positions and in the prime of their careers.

They all have at least one year of world-class football left in them, and for the older players like Benzema and Ramos, Los Blancos signed a future replacement in 2019 (Jovic and Militao).

Real Madrid won’t be able to make any marquee signings in the summer 2020 transfer window. Even if their top targets, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, were available, they would be too expensive to afford in the COVID-19 world.

Even secondary targets, such as the Bundesliga’s Dayot Upamecano and Kai Havertz, will be too costly.

Not only will the market force Los Blancos to give opportunities to their young stars, including those returning from loan deals, but it will also force Florentino Perez and Zidane to patiently trust what they are building at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Of course, patience is a virtue exercised by the key decision-makers in Spain’s capital. Perez, unlike his greatest rivals in La Liga, doesn’t spend money he doesn’t have and rarely makes splashes. Even last year when the club spent 300 million euros on transfers, they only signed one superstar.

The rest of the money was spent on a handful of players who can all play different, but equally important, roles for the club in a few years. And Zidane has the patience to make sure those young players grow their confidence and develop; he was in their shoes, too.

Next. Here are three players Real Madrid should loan out next season. dark

Los Blancos must continue to exercise patience and trust that the moves they have made last summer will pay off. They have given key minutes to players via loan deals, and a few of those players, namely Martin Odegaard and Achraf Hakimi, already look like big stars. As Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Reinier Jesus, and Kubo gain experience, they, too, will reach that level. Keep the faith.
