Real Madrid: Takefusa Kubo at Real Sociedad would be brilliant
Real Madrid loanee Takefusa Kubo is ready for the next step in his career.
Mallorca will likely be relegated at the end of the 2019-2020 season, but Real Madrid attacking midfielder Takefusa Kubo will still be playing in Spain’s top flight. Kubo has distinguished himself as the star player on a team with plenty of young talent, but little in the form of direction or support for the attacking midfielder.
Like a few of his colleagues owned by Madrid, Kubo has all the tools to be a world-class No. 10 in La Liga. He even showed his future stardom against Real Madrid at the Alfredo Di Stefano last Wednesday, taking on defenders and doing everything he could to help Mallorca pull one back in an eventual 2-0 loss to his parent club.
While Kubo has shined at Mallorca, he needs a bigger challenge and more responsibility. And it looks like Real Sociedad could be the move for him.

There was previously speculation that Kubo could replace Martin Odegaard at Real Sociedad for the 2020-2021 season, as Odegaard’s elite performances for La Real caused some to wonder if Los Blancs would want Odegaard back after less than two years. But Odegaard will be staying for longer, which is the correct decision for all parties.
According to a report from Sergio Santos Chozas of AS, Real Madrid are interested in loaning Kubo to Real Sociedad for the 2020-2021 season and having him join with fellow loanee Odegaard.
La Real have done a great job of getting the most out of Odegaard and giving him minutes, and they feel Kubo would likewise benefit from playing with a well-coached and talented young team as part of an organization willing to give youth chances.
Furthermore, Sociedad will likely be playing in the Europa League next season, giving the 19-year-old another opportunity to develop his skills.
Kubo is already seen as an important player to Real Madrid, as the club is not interested in selling Kubo at any price despite interest from teams as big as PSG. The Japanese attacking midfielder’s dribbling skills, vision, and creative qualities make him a standout attacking midfielder, and he could hit another level to his game at Real Sociedad.
On paper, there doesn’t seem to be a better club for Kubo to play for in 2020-2021 for La Real, and Odegaard’s high degree of success at the rising club is a great example of why. Kubo has that kind of upside, and it would be a true delight see Odegaard and Kubo playing together, especially with Mikel Oyarzabal and Alexander Isak as additional attacking options.
